Cabbage Leaf - 4x4" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
This is an up-close view of an ornamental cabbage leaf. The delicate veins begged to be painted. Plus there is just something about green and purple together. ;-) -

Yin - 4x4" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
Maple tree branches with patches of ice on a cold winter day.
(And this particular painting has a sister named Yang.) -

Static - 4x4" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
A representation of static on a tv screen. The high contrast allows the mind to find different images within the painting. Because of the added texture--not only can the chaos be seen, but it can be felt, too. -

Blue Dragonfly - 6x6" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
I live beside a creek, and I have many dragonflies that visit my yard. Dragonflies are great because they're fun to watch, and they eat mosquitoes! -

Flock - 9x12" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
Experimenting with Impressionism. I had fun with this style. Might try it again on landscapes in the future. -

Grime Time - 6x6" Acrylic & Modeling Paste on Wrapped Canvas
I plan to focus more energy on textures. This particular piece is an experiment in creating delicate cracks with modeling paste and acrylic paint. -

Spiny Orb-Weaver - 6x6" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
I am not a fan of spiders. However, I've never seen one quite like this little guy. It almost looks like he has a face on his backside. I'm just happy he didn't try to attack me while I was taking the photo that inspired this painting! -

Urban Silver and Gold - 6x6" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
I love finding textures that inspire me to paint. This was one of those moments. I'm considering doing a larger version similar to this at some point. -

Zebra Eye - 6x6" Acrylic & Modeling Paste on Wrapped Canvas
Experimenting with modeling paste once again. This is based on a photo taken of an old drain pipe with cracked, white paint and a rusty bolt. -

Giant Leopard Moth - 12x12" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
Here's another addition to my moth series! A huge thank you to Allison Hernandez for allowing me to paint from her too cool photo. I've been wanting to paint this type of moth for quite some time. The contrast and pattern is striking! -

In the Groove - 12x12" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
This is a section of a metal door in rich shades of purple and gold (and of course rust.) The horizontal corrugated lines along with the vertical rusty drips create an interesting pattern for the eyes. -

Corrugated - 12x12" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
Rusty metal intrigues me. It's when man meets nature. This is a close up of a corrugated metal door. The pops of teal contrast nicely against the rusty purple and gold. -

Gridlocked - 12x24" Acrylic, Graphite and Chalk on Wrapped Canvas
This is a playful, experimental painting that uses lines, squares and high contrast. -

Lichen - 12x24" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
Lichen creates the most beautiful colors and patterns on rocks and trees. It inspired this painting, and I believe there will be more to come. Maybe it's just me, but this almost has an Asian flare to it. -

Tadpoles - 12x24" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
The creek in our neighborhood is full of tadpoles during the spring and summer months. It's so relaxing to watch them swim around. I thought it might be fun to capture the magic of tadpoles using a palette knife and acrylic paint. -

Segments - 16x20" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
Discovered this gorgeous, rusty wall. Downtown Tyler is full of treasures like this. -

IC 1795 - 16x20" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
I finally got a chance to paint another outer space piece. They are so much fun to create! For now I am recreating actual space images. But I can see myself painting my own imagery and planets in the future. Oh the possiblities are endless! -

Blue Flame - 16x20" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
This painting is based off a photo I took years back while shopping. This is a close-up of a blue sidewalk ramp that had seen better days. I can't resist amazing textures, and I love the worn paint pattern! -

Repose - 16x20" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
I spotted this beautiful melanchroia chephise grouping by the creek. The vibrant colors stood out amongst the overcast scene. It brings about a feeling of calmness and peace. -

Luna Moth - 18x24" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
Here's another one from my Moth Series. Luna moths are one of my favorites. They are such a beautiful shade of green. -

Divided - 20x20" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
I trudged up a steep hill through thick mud in order to photograph a rusty silo. I found the warm hues against the cool blue tones very intriguing, and I instantly knew I needed to recreate this texture as a painting. -

Leaving - 20x24" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
Traces of autumn left behind on a driveway. Things come and go and move from one phase to another. -

Echoes - 24x36" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
This painting was inspired by a fellow Instagram user, kiefs. In May 2014, he posted a fabulous, high contrast, black-and-white photo of water ripples. I loved the mix of positive and negative space, the soothing lines and the way the two different ripple patterns intertwined. Please visit his Instagram gallery and check out his beautiful images: http://instagram.com/kiefs -

Reversed - 24x30" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
Usually I work from photos I've taken. But this one was handled in a different manner... This art developed as I painted (without photo inspiration) using my favorite color palette--autumn colors! In Reversed, the olive green is being devoured by the rust while the unnatural drips pull the viewer's eyes down the painting. -

Balance - 24x24" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
These two leaves stood out from all of the others on our driveway. They reminded me of yin and yang, because of their opposite positions and colors. I snapped a quick photo a while back and finally got around to painting it. -

Nature's Sidewalk Art - 24x24" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
I noticed this interesting pattern on e morning after an overnight rain shower. Dirt washed onto a lichen spotted sidewalk, and raindrops formed this beautiful design. Isn't nature amazing? -

Break Out of Your Shell - 24x24" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
This painting is of a beautiful scallop shell we found on the beach in Gulf Shores, AL last summer. I have to admit... I was a bit nervous about tackling this one with the grayish-colored shell on a dark background. It has a dramatic vibe and definitely isn't your typical beach art. -

From Rust Till Dawn - 24x30" Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas
I can never walk past a rusty pattern without stopping. This one caught my attention as I was leaving a BBQ joint. The original grating was a dull purple instead of vibrant blue, but I thought these colors made the painting more fun.
